Timber, Fabric and What a CAC Certificate Does Not Cover in Zamfara

Furniture and carpentry rest on two supply chains: timber and fabric. On timber, the Zamfara State Government has cautioned residents against indiscriminate tree felling. The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources said so at the 2024 World Environment Day event in Gusau, and a later federal Executive Order of December 2025 banned the export of wood and allied products and suspended earlier licences and permits for wood extraction and export. If you buy, transport or mill timber, ask the state environment ministry which permits apply, and check the current status of the federal order, since it can affect supply and prices.

On fabric, Gusau has a long history of cotton ginning, weaving and dyeing, according to Britannica, which gives upholsterers and curtain makers a local textile tradition to draw on. We found no Zamfara-specific licensing rule for furniture or carpentry workshops. A CAC certificate registers your business name only. It is not a permit to harvest, buy or move timber, and it is not an approval of your workshop.
