Travellers pass through Nasarawa all the time: officials heading to Lafia, students and parents visiting the state’s campuses, traders on the road to and from Abuja, and visitors making for the waterfall at Wamba. Someone has to give them a clean room, running water and a quiet night. If you run a hotel, guest house, lodge or short-stay apartment in the state, registering the business under its own name is a sensible first piece of paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We take care of the search, the filing and the certificate, whichever of the state’s 13 LGAs your property is in. Send your business name on WhatsApp and consider it handled — that’s genuinely the extent of what’s asked of you.
A State on the Road to Abuja, With a Waterfall Worth the Trip
Nasarawa sits on Abuja’s doorstep. The state’s western edge meets the Federal Capital Territory, and the Karu urban area, effectively part of Abuja’s suburbs, is one of its key economic centres. Further out, Farin Ruwa Falls in Wamba LGA, roughly 120 kilometres from the capital Lafia, is the state’s best-known natural attraction, and Governor Abdullahi Sule has said the state completed a ₦3 billion road leading to the falls to encourage tourists and investors.
The rules for hotels have been moving too. In August 2020, the state’s Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dogo Shammah, told the Nasarawa chapter of the Nigeria Hotels Association that the government would begin registering and licensing hotels across all 13 LGAs, saying the aim was to get proper data on operators rather than to hunt anyone down. The chapter’s chairman, for his part, asked the government to centralise tax collection so that operators are not billed by several different agents.
⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days
✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report
🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
A CAC registration is a different step from any state hotel registration. It gives your accommodation business a legal name, a TIN and a status report, which is usually what you need in hand before you approach the state. Because the state’s process may have changed since that 2020 announcement, ask the ministry responsible for culture and tourism what is currently required for your kind of property.
📋 CAC Business Name Registration
💰 Cost: ₦35,500 (All-Inclusive) ⏱️ Turnaround Time: 5 – 7 Working Days ✅ What You Get: Official CAC Certificate + Certified Status Report + TIN 🚚 Delivery: Soft Copy Sent via WhatsApp (Print Hard Copy Locally)
Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
A single ₦35,500 payment settles the registration of a Nasarawa accommodation business. CAC’s fee and ours are both folded in, so there are no later top-ups.
- A look-up on CAC’s register to confirm your first-choice name is free
- Reservation of that name for your business
- Your Business Name application, filled in and submitted on your behalf
- The statutory fee CAC charges for the filing
- A soft copy of your Certificate of Registration
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report, the document that shows your business as active on the public register
Business Name or Limited Liability Company for a Hotel?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Owner-run guest houses, lodges and short-stay rooms | Bigger hotels, chalet developments, or investor-backed projects |
If you run a modest property yourself, a Business Name covers what most owners need first: a registered name to put on room receipts, booking messages and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company earns its higher price when the property is larger, when you have partners, or when an investor wants a company structure, because your personal assets are then kept separate from the business. Starting small and upgrading later is a common path.
Before You Reach Out
- Two business names, in order of preference
- One valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Nasarawa State, with its LGA
- A phone number and an email address
- A simple description of what you do — for example “hotel and guest house accommodation” or “lodging and event hall”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company: names, ID and details of the directors and shareholders
From Message to Certificate
- We check your name on CAC’s public search portal.
- We reserve it once it’s confirmed free.
- We complete the application with your business details and Nasarawa address.
- You send your ID and passport photograph — a clear phone photo is enough.
- You pay ₦35,500 in a single payment, which is the full cost.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, normally within 5–7 working days.
From your side, that’s the entire process: one message, one payment, one certificate.
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Registration gives your business a legal name. These items sit with other bodies and are not part of the ₦35,500:
- Hotel registration or licensing from the Nasarawa State Government, where it applies; confirm the current process with the state ministry responsible for culture and tourism
- Registration with the national tourism regulator, which may apply to accommodation businesses
- Fire-safety clearance and building approvals for your property
- Environmental health and food-hygiene requirements, especially if you serve meals
- Liquor, entertainment or event-hall approvals if you run a bar or hall on the premises
- State and local levies and taxes that apply to hotels and lodgings
- Opening a business account, which you do with your own bank after your certificate arrives
- A printed copy of your certificate, since it is delivered digitally and you can print it wherever suits you
- Yearly CAC filings after your first year, a small separate task that we can also take on for you

Fresh Linen, Running Water and a Welcome After a Long Drive
Travellers in this part of the country often arrive tired from the road, and what they remember is simple: a room that is ready, water in the tap, a bed that is made and someone friendly at the desk. Behind that sit supplies to buy, staff to schedule and a calendar that swings between quiet weekdays and full weekends of weddings, school events and visits home. Registration is the one item on that list you can pass over entirely. When it’s finished, your name shows up where guests and banks look for it: on receipts, in booking messages and on your account.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not learn CAC’s portal between arriving guests, a generator that needs refuelling and housekeeping that needs supervising — you want the paperwork finished while the property keeps running.
- You’re planning to add to what you have — more rooms, an event hall, or a second property in another town, and you want a registered name to build on.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You’d rather not chase anyone — one message starts it, and the price you’re quoted is the price you pay.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will a Business Name do for a guest house or small hotel in Nasarawa State? For most owner-run properties, yes. It gives you a registered name and the paperwork to start taking bookings and open a bank account. A Limited Liability Company is worth considering for a larger property, one with partners, or one with an investor.
What does registration cost for a hotel in Nasarawa State? ₦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, whichever LGA you are in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Do I also need a hotel licence from the Nasarawa State Government? The state government announced in 2020 that it would begin registering and licensing hotels across the state. That is separate from CAC registration and the process may have changed, so confirm the current requirements with the state ministry responsible for culture and tourism.
Do hostels, lodges and shortlets register the same way? Yes. Hostels, lodges, shortlets and serviced apartments can be registered as Business Names in the same way as hotels. Other approvals may differ by property type.
What if my hotel also has a restaurant or an event hall? Describe your business broadly when you register, for example as accommodation and catering. Food service, bars and event halls can carry their own approvals, which are handled separately.
My property isn’t finished yet. Can I still register? You need a business address in Nasarawa State and its LGA for the application. If you are still arranging the premises, send the address you plan to use.
Will the certificate help me win bookings from companies and organisations? Many firms and agencies want to see proof of registration before they book rooms for staff or guests, so having the certificate ready is useful. It does not guarantee any booking.
I’m in a smaller LGA such as Obi or Toto. Do you still cover me? Yes. We register accommodation businesses in all 13 LGAs, at the same price and turnaround.
What if the name I want is already taken? Give us a second choice and we’ll run it through the search at once. It helps to arrive with two or three options.
Can I open a business bank account, and does the TIN come with the package? Yes to both. Banks generally ask for the CAC certificate alongside your ID, and the TIN is included in the ₦35,500.
Is there anything to file with CAC after the first year? Yes, registered businesses submit annual returns. It is a small, separate job, and we can handle it for you when it falls due.
Can I move up to a Limited Liability Company later, and when is it better to begin with one? You can move up at any time, and we can assist with the conversion. Beginning as a company suits you if you are building a large hotel, have co-owners, or have an investor who requires that structure. If none of those apply yet, a Business Name is usually enough to begin.
