Port Harcourt’s hotels, the guest houses along its busy roads and the lodges in towns such as Bonny, Omoku and Ahoada all share one starting point: a business that trades under a registered name. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent, and we register accommodation businesses anywhere in Rivers State, from the state capital to the creek towns.
A Business Name costs ₦35,500, all-inclusive, with CAC’s filing fee and our service fee built into one figure. A Limited Liability Company costs ₦65,500, also all-inclusive. Either way, the certificate arrives in 5–7 working days. Tell us your business name on WhatsApp; searching, filing and following up are all on our side.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
One payment of ₦35,500 covers everything below for a Rivers State accommodation business. Nothing is added afterwards. If you would rather start as a company, the Limited Liability Company route is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Checking that your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it clears
- Preparing and submitting your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Registering the name is one step. Running a property in Rivers State involves other approvals, and these sit outside what your ₦35,500 covers:
- Printed copies of your certificate — we deliver a soft copy, and you print it locally whenever it suits you
- Any registration, classification or approval the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism requires for your premises — confirm the current position with the ministry directly
- Registration with the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, which may apply to hospitality businesses
- Building, occupancy and fire-safety approvals for the property, from the relevant state and local authorities
- Environmental health, waste and sanitation requirements, which matter even more for properties close to creeks and waterways
- Approvals for a bar, entertainment, event hall or food service if your property includes one, plus any liquor-related permissions
- Separate marine or inland-waterways permissions if you run boat transfers or water-based activities for guests
- Registration with the Rivers State Internal Revenue Service and the state and federal taxes that apply to accommodation operators, including hotel occupancy tax where it applies
- Opening a business bank account, which you do with your chosen bank once the certificate is in hand
- Annual returns in later years — a small, separate step we can also help with when the time comes
Business Name or Limited Liability Company: Which Fits a Rivers Property?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Separates personal assets | No | Yes |
| Documents you receive | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Usually suits | One guest house, a modest hotel or a few apartments run by one owner | Bigger hotels, resorts and anyone with co-owners, partners or investors |
If you run the property yourself and need a legal name for bookings, receipts and a bank account, a Business Name usually does the job. A company starts to make sense once several people share ownership, someone is putting money in, or the building is large enough that you want it standing apart from your personal assets. Plenty of owners register a Business Name first and move to a company later.
Before You Reach Out
- Two business names you would be happy with, in order of preference
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s licence
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Rivers State, including the LGA
- A phone number and an email address
- A short description of the business — for example “guest house and lodging services” or “serviced apartment and shortlet rentals”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
From Message to Certificate
- Check name availability on CAC’s public search portal — we do this for you.
- Reserve the name once it clears.
- Complete the application using your business details and your Rivers State address.
- Upload your ID and passport photograph — a clear photo taken on your phone works.
- Pay the ₦35,500 fee — one payment that covers everything listed above.
- Receive your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report, usually within 5–7 working days.
Think of it as two tasks — message us, pay once — with the rest of the process handled for you.
Rivers State Is Preparing for a Bigger Tourism Season
Rivers State’s government has been vocal about travel lately. At the 2026 World Tourism Day event in Port Harcourt, the Permanent Secretary of the state’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Freddy Ndigbara, said the ministry wants Rivers to be known as a tourism hub and announced plans for major tourism and leisure events in December 2026. He urged residents who were planning to travel out of the state for leisure to reconsider, saying activity would point towards Rivers. He also placed the state’s role in hydrocarbon production alongside a growing interest in the blue economy, and stakeholders at the event called for a digital map of the state’s tourism assets.
For anyone who rents out rooms, that is a signal rather than a promise. An announcement does not fill a single room, and we cannot tell you what the December programme will bring. What we can say is practical: if you hope to take bookings from event organisers, companies or visitors who find you online, it helps to have a registered name behind the property before they ask for one. CAC registration is separate from any approval the state ministry or other authorities may require for your premises, so check those requirements with them directly.
Where in Rivers State We Register Accommodation
The price, requirements and turnaround are the same wherever your property is. The list below mixes local government areas with well-known towns. If your location is not named, it is still covered.
Port Harcourt and the metropolitan belt
- Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor — hotels, serviced apartments and guest houses in the state capital and the built-up areas around it
- Oyigbo and Eleme — lodges and budget hotels on the city’s eastern and industrial side
- Ikwerre and Elele — guest houses along the roads running north out of the city
- Emohua, Etche and Omuma — lodging for travellers and visitors in the towns north and north-east of Port Harcourt
Ogoni land and the south-eastern waterways
- Bori, Khana, Gokana and Tai — guest houses and hotels in the Ogoni towns
- Okrika and Ogu/Bolo — waterfront and island-edge lodging
- Andoni and Opobo/Nkoro — riverine and coastal communities
- Bonny — hotels and guest houses on Bonny Island
Creek towns and smaller communities
- Asari-Toru, Buguma and Akuku-Toru — lodging for visitors to the creek towns
- Degema Hulk and Obonoma — small hotels and lodges in smaller communities
Upland north-west and oil-field towns
- Ahoada East and Ahoada West — guest houses and budget hotels for travellers and local visitors
- Abua/Odual — lodges serving the area’s towns
- Omoku and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni — hotels and guest houses in the oil-and-gas communities
Your Rooms Have Enough to Manage Already
Think about a normal day at a property: linen to count, diesel to order, a supplier who is running late, a guest arriving after a delayed flight and another asking about breakfast at six. None of that waits for paperwork. A registered name is one task you can pass to someone else completely. Once it is done, your property can trade under a name that guests, companies and your bank are able to look up on the public register.
A Good Match If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent — this is who we serve best:
- Your day runs on airport pick-ups, visiting crews checking in and late kitchen orders — and the CAC portal keeps losing out to whatever is happening at the front desk.
- You are looking past one building — a guest house in Port Harcourt today, perhaps furnished apartments for longer corporate stays or a second property near the port or industrial areas later, and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want one message to actually mean one message — no chasing documents back and forth, no surprise extra fees once you’ve paid.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Questions Rivers State Property Owners Ask
How much does CAC registration cost for a hotel or guest house in Rivers State? A Business Name is ₦35,500, all-inclusive, wherever in the state your property is. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
What is included in the price? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, CAC’s filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
How long does it take? Usually 5–7 working days from the point your details are in and payment is made.
Is a Business Name enough for a guest house or a small hotel? For most owner-run properties, yes. It gives you a registered name and identity to start trading under. Approvals for operating the premises are handled separately.
Does CAC registration replace approval from the Rivers State Ministry of Culture and Tourism? No. CAC registration gives your business a legal name. Any registration or approval the ministry requires for your premises is a separate matter, so confirm it with them directly.
I run shortlets or serviced apartments. Can I register? Yes. Furnished-apartment and shortlet businesses are registered the same way as hotels.
Can I register a property outside Port Harcourt, such as in Bonny, Omoku or Ahoada? Yes. We register accommodation businesses across Rivers State at the same price and turnaround.
My property has a restaurant, bar or event hall. Can it go under one name? Yes, you can describe the nature of business broadly. A bar, hall or kitchen may need its own approvals on top of this.
Can one registration cover several properties? One registration covers your business as a whole, and you can describe it broadly. Approvals for premises often attach to each building, so confirm what each property needs.
When should I choose a Limited Liability Company, and can I upgrade later? A company is worth considering from day one if you are building a larger hotel, sharing ownership or bringing in an investor. If not, many owners start with a Business Name and upgrade as the property grows. We can help with that conversion.
Do I also need to register with the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation? It may apply to hospitality businesses and is handled separately from CAC. Check the current requirements for your type of property.
What if my preferred business name is already taken? Send us a second or third option and we will check it right away. Having backups ready keeps things moving.
Will the certificate help me win corporate bookings? Companies and organisations often ask for proof of registration before arranging block or repeat bookings, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee any booking.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for when opening a business account, along with your ID and other details.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help when the time comes.
