Every new house, shop, school block and renovated compound needs someone to plaster it, paint it and make it look finished. If you do that work in Zamfara State, whether you paint walls, fit ceilings, style interiors or supply and mix paint, registering the business under its own name lets you quote, invoice and take deposits as a business, not just as an individual tradesperson. Onelove Business Ventures is a CAC-accredited agent, and we handle the name search, the application and the certificate for owners anywhere in the state, from Gusau to Zurmi. Message your business name to our WhatsApp and the registration becomes our job from that moment.

Gusau’s Urban Renewal and Palace Rebuilding: What It Means for Finishing Trades
Zamfara’s government has made urban renewal a stated priority. Its first phase in Gusau covered four road constructions over 3.5 kilometres, with junction improvements and drainage, and was flagged off by Governor Dauda Lawal. Separately, the state’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs said that ₦1.95 billion was earmarked in the 2024 budget for reconstructing 18 palaces of traditional rulers, and the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development said more than ₦10 billion was earmarked for an economic city on the outskirts of Gusau. These are budget lines and announcements, and we could not confirm how far each project has progressed.
Building and renovation work tends to bring demand for plastering, ceilings, painting and interior finishing. Nothing in those announcements says independent painters or decorators will be hired, and CAC registration does not make you a government contractor or put you on any bidder list. Public works generally go through the state’s procurement process, so ask the relevant offices what a contractor needs. What a registered name does give you is a certificate, a TIN and a status report, the documents a client, a main contractor or a supplier may ask to see before giving you work or credit.

- Checking that your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it is confirmed

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Solo painters, small finishing crews, decorators and paint shops | Larger contractors, fit-out firms, or owners with partners or investors |
A Business Name usually suits a painter, a small crew, a decorator or a paint shop that needs a legal name for quotations, receipts and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes worth considering when you take on larger contracts, hire a big team, bring in partners or investors, or want the business kept separate from your personal assets. Many owners start with a Business Name and move up as the jobs get bigger.
Registering Painting and Decoration Businesses Across Zamfara State
The price, requirements and turnaround are identical wherever you work. We register painters, decorators and paint retailers in all 14 local government areas of Zamfara State.
- Gusau — the state capital, where road, drainage and building work under the urban renewal programme is concentrated
- Kaura Namoda — a railway town with a federal polytechnic, and a market for house, shop and school finishing

- The other eleven LGAs — Anka, Bakura, Birnin Magaji/Kiyaw, Bukkuyum, Bungudu, Chafe, Gummi, Maradun, Maru, Shinkafi and Zurmi, where painters and decorators serve homes, shops, schools and compounds
A painting or decoration business in any of these 14 LGAs is registered the same way.

A Good Finish Takes Patience; the Paperwork Shouldn’t
Most of painting is preparation: scraping, filling cracks, sanding, priming and waiting for each coat to dry before the next. Add colour choices that change at the last minute, a client who wants the walls done before a ceremony and a supplier who has run out of the right shade, and the working day has no spare minute for a government website. It is also one job on your list that we can handle entirely. Once it is finished, your quotations, receipts and supplier accounts carry a registered name.
Who Enjoys Working With Us Most
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not learn CAC’s portal while a wall is drying and a client is waiting on a quote — your days are site visits, measuring, colour mixing and finishing the next coat, and you want the registration done without losing a job.
- You’re aiming for bigger work — perhaps from house painting to whole-building contracts, or from painting into full interior fit-out with ceilings, wall finishes and curtains, or from site work into your own shop or showroom.
- You’d like a straight answer on whether a Business Name is enough — if it is, we’ll say so rather than push the company route.
- You want the details settled in one go — send them once, pay once, and expect no add-ons.
If that sounds like how you work, message us your business name and we’ll take it from there.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a painting or decoration business in Zamfara State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I receive for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a painter or decorator? For most owner-run painters, decorators and small crews, yes. It gives you a registered name for quotations, receipts and a bank account. Approvals for specific jobs or products are separate.
Can one name cover painting, POP ceilings and interior design? Yes. Describe the nature of the business broadly, such as painting, ceiling work and interior decoration, and one registration covers the whole business.
Can I register a paint shop and my painting jobs together? Yes. If you both sell paint and take painting jobs, describe it that way. Any standards or approvals for the products you sell are separate.
Does registering with CAC let me bid for government jobs? No. CAC registration gives you a registered business name. Public contracts usually have their own registration and procurement steps, so ask the relevant offices what applies.
Do you register businesses outside Gusau? Yes. We register businesses in all 14 LGAs of Zamfara State, from Zurmi to Talata Mafara, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I register before I have a shop or a store? You need a business address in Zamfara State and its LGA for the application. If you are still arranging premises, send the address you plan to use.
Will a certificate help me win clients or main contractors? Clients, contractors and suppliers may ask to see proof of registration before giving you work or credit, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It cannot guarantee any job.
Do I need any approvals for paint products or chemical disposal? Possibly. Leftover paint, thinners and solvents can come with disposal and safety requirements, and products you sell may have standards. These are separate from CAC, so confirm what applies to you.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many owners start with a Business Name and convert once they take on larger contracts or bring in partners. We can assist with the conversion.
