From the mills of Okitipupa to a groundnut oil press in Owo, edible oil is one of the oldest trades in Ondo State, and one of the hardest to run without a formal name behind it. Buyers want an invoice, banks want a business they can look up, and wholesalers want to know who they are dealing with. Onelove Business Ventures is a CAC-accredited agent: we run the name search, file the application and collect your certificate, wherever in the state your mill, press or buying point is located. Start with one WhatsApp message carrying your business name, and we’ll take the registration from there.

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | β¦35,500 | β¦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Artisan processors, small mills, oil retailers, aggregators and traders | Larger mills, plantation operators and exporters with partners or investors |
If you run a mill, press or buying business yourself, a Business Name usually gives you what you need to trade under a proper name and keep business money separate from household money. A Limited Liability Company becomes the better fit when several people hold shares, when you are leasing or buying heavy plant, when you are signing supply deals with larger buyers, or when you want the business to stand apart from your personal assets. Plenty of oil businesses start small and convert later.
Okitipupa’s Processors and the Paperwork Banks Ask For
Oil palm runs deep in southern Ondo. The Okitipupa Oil Palm Company was set up in 1968, and its estates have been spread across the Okitipupa, Irele and Ese Odo areas. It has since gone through years of decline and restructuring, and Premium Times reported in October 2025 that other plantations in the state, including the Ore-Irele Oil Palm Company and Araromi-Ayesan Oil Palm Plc, now supply raw material to artisan processors in Okitipupa. The Guardian has also reported that the company contracted out operations and rented plantation land of more than 10,000 hectares to small-scale farmers and processors.
The same Premium Times report found that women are the main players in the artisan end of the trade in Okitipupa, and that many work with old or limited equipment. One processor described a night shift to fill orders using a mill with only a presser and a digester. The report also quoted a bank’s agribusiness coordinator on why lenders hold back from smallholder palm oil operators. He said many of them do not run their business as a structured, registered entity separate from their personal finances, and that banks look for cash flow, documentation and a business profile they can assess.
CAC registration does not make a bank approve a loan, and it does not substitute for the cash-flow records a lender will want to see. What it does give you is the first piece of that documentation: a registered name, a TIN and a status report that a bank, buyer or grant programme can check.
From Night Shifts to Named Suppliers
You know when the fruit is ready, how long it needs on the fire and how many drums a good day gives you. You know the rhythm of an order that has to be filled by morning, the press that needs repairing again and the customer who wants to be paid on delivery and invoiced on the same day. Your business has earned its reputation by being reliable. Registration is a different kind of chore, and it is one you can hand over entirely. Once it is filed, the name your customers already trust can sit on a receipt, a quotation to a wholesaler and the account you open in the business’s name.

This Might Be a Great Fit If…
Different business owners want different things from an agent β this is who we serve best:
- You’d rather not work out CAC’s portal between a night shift at the mill, a truck waiting for drums and customers asking when their order will be ready β you want the paperwork done while the work goes on.
- You’re growing from selling by the drum in the market to supplying wholesalers, bottlers or soap makers, or adding a second press β and you want a registered business behind that growth, one a bank or buyer can look up.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch β if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want a process without back-and-forth β send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a palm oil or groundnut oil business in Ondo State? β¦35,500, all-inclusive, for a Business Name, the same wherever in the state you operate. A Limited Liability Company is β¦65,500, also all-inclusive.
What do I get for the β¦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a Tax Identification Number and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a small mill or press? For an owner-run mill, press or trading business, yes. It gives you a registered name for receipts, bank dealings and customers. Larger mills, plantation operators and businesses with partners may prefer a Limited Liability Company.
Does CAC registration let me sell packaged oil? No. CAC registration records your business name. Selling branded, packaged oil needs NAFDAC registration and may involve other requirements, so confirm what applies before you bottle and label.
Will registering help me get a loan? It helps you present a documented business, but it does not guarantee a loan. Banks and grant programmes set their own conditions and will also look at your income and records.
Can I register a groundnut oil business under the same name as palm oil? Yes. Describe the business broadly, for example “palm oil and groundnut oil production and sales”. Each product may have its own packaging and safety requirements.
I buy oil from other processors and resell it. Do I qualify? Yes. Trading, aggregating and distributing can be registered the same way as processing.
I work from a small mill or compound in a village. Can I still register? Yes. The application needs a business address in Ondo State and its LGA, so send the address you actually use.
Do you register businesses outside Okitipupa? Yes. We register edible oil businesses across Ondo State, from Owo and the Akoko towns to Ilaje and Akure, at the same price and turnaround.
Will a certificate help me supply wholesalers, bottlers or restaurants? Buyers often ask for proof of registration before they place orders or add you to a supplier list, so the certificate is a useful document to hold. It does not guarantee any order.
Can I open a business bank account, and do I file anything later? Yes to the account: a CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID. Registered businesses also file annual returns with CAC, a small, separate step we can help with.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup and we will check it right away. Two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many businesses begin with a Business Name and convert once the mill grows or partners join, and we can help with that conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you have partners, an investor who wants a company structure, or you are buying or leasing a large mill from day one, the company route is worth considering from the start.
Do I need to register again if I move my mill to a new site? Your registration stays with the business, though you will need to update the address with CAC. Premises approvals and levies usually attach to the site, so check what the new location needs.
