Whether you press palm oil from fresh fruit bunches in the south, mill groundnuts into oil in the north, or buy kegs from producers and resell them in a Taraba market, you work in a trade where buyers like to know exactly who they are dealing with. Putting the business under a registered name is a sensible first piece of paperwork. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, wherever your oil business is in Taraba State, so you can stay with the press, the mill and the market stall. One name on WhatsApp is the whole first step; the filing and follow-up belong to us.

What’s Included in the ₦35,500
The ₦35,500 is one payment. CAC’s filing fee already sits inside it next to our service fee, so there is no second invoice waiting behind it. If you would rather begin as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- Business name availability search
- Business name reservation
- Preparation and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- The CAC government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- A Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
What’s Not Usually Included
Registration gives your oil business a legal name. These are separate matters, handled with other bodies or on your own timetable:
- Printed copies of your certificate. We send a soft copy on WhatsApp, and you print locally whenever you need paper.
- NAFDAC registration and premises approval. If you pack oil in bottles, sealed jerrycans or branded containers for sale, packaged food products generally need NAFDAC attention. A CAC certificate is not a NAFDAC number.
- SON standards. Quality and labelling standards for edible oils and their packaging, where they apply to your product.
- Land and site documents. Ownership or lease papers for the farm, plantation or pressing site, issued through the state’s land process.
- Local approvals and levies. Market stall fees, premises permits and any approvals required by the Taraba State Ministry of Agriculture or your local government council. Confirm what applies to your location.
- Cooperative society registration. If you buy fruit or groundnuts through a farmers’ group, a cooperative is registered separately from a business name.
- Buyer or export testing. Some buyers ask for quality tests such as aflatoxin testing on groundnut products, and exporters deal with NEPC and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service.
- Waste and safety rules. Disposal of shells, fibre and wastewater from pressing, plus fire safety around roasting, boiling and oil storage.
- Annual returns. A small, separate yearly filing with CAC that we can also help with later.
Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Pressers, millers, traders and aggregators working alone or as a family | Larger processing plants, bottling or branding plans, partners or investors |
For most owner-run pressing, milling and trading, a Business Name is enough to start: it gives you a name for your invoices, bank account and price lists. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when you add partners, bring in outside money or build a plant that should stand apart from your personal assets. Plenty of oil businesses start with a Business Name and convert later.
What Taraba’s Own Researchers Say About Oil Processing
Taraba has two oil stories running side by side. In the north, a published study of groundnut marketers in Ardo Kola and Zing LGAs surveyed 184 traders who handle groundnuts shelled, unshelled and as oil. Its main finding was that inadequate storage and processing facilities hold back efficiency and profit, and the authors urged investment in both. In the south, a study of rural women extracting palm kernel oil by traditional small-scale methods in Takum, Ussa, Bali and Kurmi LGAs pointed the same way: processing and storage facilities were the strategies it identified for moving from home-scale extraction to commercial production. A separate survey of groundnut farmers in Wukari, Takum, Ussa, Ibi and Donga lists palm oil processing among the small-scale industries of that area.
A registered name builds none of those facilities. It does not give you a press, a store or a customer. What it does give you is a legal identity, a TIN and a status report, which are the documents that cooperatives, lenders and bulk buyers often ask for when a small operation starts talking about scaling up. These are academic studies, so read them as a picture of the sector rather than a forecast, and confirm current conditions in your own area.
The Work Is in the Pressing, Not the Paperwork
Oil is physical, seasonal work. Palm fruit has to be cut, cooked and pressed while it is fresh. Groundnuts have to be shelled, roasted, milled and pressed before the oil is filtered and measured into kegs and bottles. In between there are suppliers to pay, fuel to buy and a regular customer asking for the next few litres. Registration is one item on that long list that we can lift off you completely. Once it is done, the name on your labels, receipts and price lists is the same name your bank and your customers can look up.

Where in Taraba We Register Oil Businesses
Price, documents and turnaround stay the same wherever your business operates. Here is how our Taraba coverage breaks down:
Jalingo and the northern LGAs
- Jalingo, Lau and Yorro — traders, millers and distributors around the state capital
- Ardo Kola and Zing — the two LGAs behind the northern groundnut marketing study, where groundnuts move as raw nuts and as oil
The central belt
- Karim Lamido and Gassol — farming and market areas between the capital and the southern LGAs
The south and the Benue border
- Wukari, Ibi and Donga — groundnut-growing and trading areas where oil processing sits alongside other small industries
- Takum, Ussa, Bali and Kurmi — the LGAs where researchers documented traditional palm kernel oil extraction by rural women
The eastern highlands
- Gashaka and Sardauna — producers and sellers in the hill country and on the Mambilla Plateau
Every one of the 16 LGAs is covered. If your oil business is anywhere in Taraba State, we can register it.

A Good Match If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You spend harvest weeks and market days shelling, pressing, filtering and filling kegs — and you’d rather the CAC portal not take the evening you need for counting stock and settling with suppliers.
- You see your oil travelling beyond the roadside and the weekly market — to shops, restaurants and wholesalers in Jalingo and further, or one day under a label of your own — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a palm oil or groundnut oil business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same in every Taraba LGA. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for pressing, milling or trading oil? For most owner-run operations, yes. It gives you the registered name to trade under. If you plan to bring in partners or investors, or build a larger plant, consider a Limited Liability Company.
Does CAC registration replace NAFDAC or other approvals? No. A CAC certificate registers your business name and identity. NAFDAC, SON, land documents and local approvals are separate, and which ones apply depends on whether you package oil, how you process it and where you operate.
Can I register palm oil and groundnut oil under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, for example “palm oil and groundnut oil production and sales”, and one registration covers both.
I buy and resell oil but don’t press it myself. Can I register? Yes. Traders, aggregators and distributors register the same way as producers. Just describe what you do, such as “palm oil and groundnut oil sales and distribution”.
I’m outside Jalingo. Can you still register my business? Yes. We register businesses in all 16 Taraba LGAs, from Ardo Kola and Zing in the north to Wukari and Takum in the south and Sardauna on the Mambilla Plateau, at the same price and turnaround.
Can I put my registered name on my kegs and labels? Your registered business name can appear on invoices, labels and price lists. NAFDAC registration is a separate approval, and a NAFDAC number should only appear on packaging if NAFDAC has issued it for your product.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other account-opening details.
Is the TIN included, and what about annual returns? The TIN is included in the ₦35,500. Registered businesses also have annual returns to file with CAC, which is a small separate step we can help with when the time comes.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade to a Limited Liability Company later, and when should I start with one? Yes, many businesses start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can assist with the conversion. Starting as a company from day one is worth considering if you have partners, an investor who requires it, or plans for a larger processing plant.
