Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For

One payment of ₦35,500 settles the whole registration. The CAC filing fee and our own fee are both folded into that figure, so nothing gets tacked on after you’ve paid. If you would rather start as a company, the Limited Liability Company option is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.

Outside the Scope of This Registration

A registered name is where the paperwork begins, not where it ends. Pharmacies and laboratories answer to regulators of their own, and these approvals are applied for separately:

Business Name or Limited Liability Company?

Business NameLimited Liability Company
All-inclusive cost₦35,500₦65,500
Personal liability protectionNoYes
Documents receivedCertificate + Status Report + TINCertificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN
Best forSingle-owner pharmacies, patent medicine stores and small laboratoriesWholesale distributors, multi-outlet operators and ventures with partners

For one owner running one outlet, a Business Name usually does the job: it gives you a legal name for your invoices, supplier accounts and bank. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when several people share ownership, when you are building a distribution business that carries large stock, or when a partner or lender expects a company structure. Check what your regulator or financier expects before you decide. Starting small and converting later is a common path.

Before You Reach Out

Have these ready and the rest is straightforward:

  1. Two business names you’d like to use, in order of preference
  2. One government-issued ID — your NIN or National ID, an international passport, or a driver’s license
  3. A passport-size photo of yourself
  4. Your business address in Taraba State, with the LGA it falls under
  5. Your phone number and an email address you check
  6. A short description of what the business does, for example “pharmacy and patent medicine store” or “medical laboratory and diagnostic services”
  7. For a Limited Liability Company only: the names, ID and details of each director and shareholder

From Message to Certificate

  1. Check the name against CAC’s public search portal — we do this for you.
  2. Reserve it the moment it’s cleared.
  3. Complete the application using your business, owner and Taraba address details.
  4. Send your ID and a passport photo — a clear phone picture is enough.
  5. Pay the ₦35,500 fee, a single payment that covers everything listed above.
  6. Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive in roughly 5–7 working days.

Six steps, and only two of them involve you — everything else runs on our end.

What Taraba’s Pharmacy Regulator Has Been Checking

Pharmacies and laboratories in Taraba State work under national regulators that are visibly active on the ground. The Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) has carried out enforcement exercises across the state in which hundreds of premises were sealed. In one exercise announced in Jalingo, the council’s head of enforcement said his team had visited 656 premises across 11 local government areas and sealed 443 of them. The offences he listed included operating illegally, failing to renew premises registration, carrying out clinical practice without authorisation, stocking beyond the approved patent medicine list, and wholesale-licensed premises doing retail. The council also told residents to look for a valid licence displayed inside a premises and to report suspected quack operators to its office in Jalingo.

For a new owner, the lesson is about order and paperwork. Your CAC registration does not replace PCN premises registration, and it does not protect a premises from enforcement. What it gives you is a registered business name for the rest of your documents to be built around. The sensible sequence is to register the name first, then apply for the regulator approvals your premises and activity require, and keep every licence current and on display.

Your Counter Is Busy Enough Without a Government Portal

By the time the shutters go up, there is already a list waiting: a delivery to check against the invoice, shelves to rotate by expiry date, a fridge that has to stay cold through the power cuts, and a queue forming at the counter or the sample desk. A pharmacist or lab scientist knows exactly how to run that day. Working through CAC’s registration portal in the gaps is not part of the craft. Registration is the one job on your list that we can carry from start to finish, so your name is on record and on your invoices, supplier accounts and bank paperwork while you get on with the work your customers actually come for.

Is This Right for Your Business?

Frequently Asked Questions

What will it cost to register a pharmacy or laboratory in Taraba State? A Business Name costs ₦35,500 all-in, whether your outlet is in Jalingo or Gembu. Registering as a Limited Liability Company costs ₦65,500, also all-in.

What exactly does the fee cover? It pays for the search and reservation of your name, the CAC filing with its government fee, and your soft-copy Certificate of Registration, TIN and CAC Status Report.

Does a CAC certificate give me permission to open a pharmacy? No. Opening and running a pharmacy is governed by the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, which registers premises separately. The CAC certificate gives your business its registered name, which is typically one of the first documents you will need for those applications.

Do I need a pharmacist to open a pharmacy? PCN expects a pharmacy to operate under a registered pharmacist, and dispensing prescription-only medicines without one has been among the offences cited in enforcement in Taraba. Check PCN’s current requirements before you commit to a location or sign a lease.

Can I register a patent medicine store the same way? Yes, the CAC registration is the same. PCN licenses patent medicine vendors separately, and they are restricted to an approved list of medicines, so stocking beyond that list can bring sanctions.

Does a medical laboratory need anything besides CAC registration? Yes. Laboratories are regulated by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, and a stand-alone lab may also fall under the state’s private health facility requirements. Confirm both for your type of premises.

Can I register a pharmacy and a laboratory under one name? Yes, you can describe the business broadly when you apply. Each regulated activity still needs its own approvals, so a pharmacy counter and a diagnostic lab in one building should be approved separately.

I want to do both wholesale and retail. Is that a problem? PCN licenses wholesale and retail premises differently, and enforcement in Taraba has flagged wholesale-licensed premises doing retail. Decide which activity you are setting up, and describe the business accordingly.

Is a Business Name enough, or should I go straight to a Limited Liability Company? For a single owner running a single outlet, a Business Name is usually enough. Consider the company route if you have partners, plan a larger distribution business, or a lender expects one.

Can I register before I have a shop? The application needs a Taraba State address and its LGA. If the premises isn’t settled yet, tell us the location you’re leaning towards.

Do you cover areas like Wukari, Takum and Gembu? Yes. All 16 Taraba LGAs are covered, with the same fee and the same turnaround everywhere.

Will the certificate help me get health insurance accreditation or supply clinics? Suppliers, insurers and institutions commonly want evidence of registration before dealing with a business, so having the certificate on file helps. It does not guarantee accreditation, a contract or any approval.

What happens if someone already has the name I want? Give us an alternative and we’ll run it through the search immediately. Listing a few options up front saves time.

Do I get a TIN as well? Yes — it comes with the registration and is covered by the ₦35,500.

Will a bank accept the certificate for a business account? Yes; it is among the core documents banks request, together with your ID and their own forms.

Is there anything to file after the certificate arrives? CAC expects annual returns from registered businesses. We can handle those for you when the time comes; it is a separate, modest step.

Can I move up to a company later if the business grows? Yes. Plenty of owners begin small and convert once partners join or the operation expands, and we can help with the conversion.

If I open a second branch, does the same registration cover it? Your CAC registration belongs to the business, not to one shop. PCN’s premises registration, however, is tied to each premises, so each new branch needs its own approvals checked.
