A POS terminal at a busy junction, a recharge and data stall, a phone-repair counter: these are businesses built on trust, because customers hand over their cash, their phones and their card details. A registered business name is how a small telecom or POS operation shows it is a real, traceable business and not a stall that could vanish overnight. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We run the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, in any of Nasarawa State’s 13 LGAs. One WhatsApp message with your business name is all it takes — we manage the rest.

Trust Is the Product: POS Agents and Registration in Nasarawa
Agents in Nasarawa have been part of two very public conversations about trust. In January 2023, during the naira redesign, the Central Bank of Nigeria deployed POS super-agents across the state to fill gaps left by bank branches, and its team carried the message to rural communities through visits to the Doma and Obi markets. Then, in December 2024, the Nasarawa State chapter of the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria (AMMBAN) inaugurated a joint task force at its secretariat in Karu LGA to deal with fraud by some POS agents, with the state chairman saying the aim was safe, efficient service for customers.
For an honest agent, a verifiable identity is worth having. A CAC certificate, a TIN and a status report show customers, banks and landlords that your business is on the public register. They do not make you a licensed agent. Agent appointment comes from the bank, mobile money operator or fintech whose services you offer, and any association membership is a separate decision. Register the name first, then take that paperwork to your principal.

- POS and mobile money agents — cash-in, cash-out, transfers and bill payments for a bank or fintech principal.
- Airtime and data resellers — recharge cards, data bundles and bulk airtime for customers and smaller retailers.
- Phone, SIM and accessories shops — handset sales, chargers, covers and similar items.
- Phone repair and servicing workshops — screen replacement, software fixes and general repairs.
- Cyber cafés and business centres — browsing, printing, scanning and online form assistance.
- Wi-Fi, internet and network installers — small-scale providers and installers of connections for homes, shops and offices.
- Multi-outlet agent networks — operators managing several kiosks or sub-agents under one name.
Separate From This Registration
CAC registration gives your business its legal name. The following are handled elsewhere, by other bodies or by you:
- Your appointment as an agent, including the principal’s own onboarding, ID checks and agreement, and the terminal supplied under it
- Central Bank of Nigeria rules for agents and POS operators, which usually reach you through your principal — check the current circulars with them
- Membership of AMMBAN, if you choose to join
- Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) requirements for anything that counts as providing telecom services, as well as its rules on SIM registration and device approval
- Standards and import clearance for handsets, accessories and POS hardware (SON and customs) if you bring stock in yourself
- Shop, kiosk and signage approvals from the local authority, and any market or council levies
- Your duties under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 when you handle customers’ IDs, phone numbers and account details
- Printed copies of your certificate, which arrives as a soft copy and can be printed at any shop
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank once the certificate is in hand
- Annual returns to CAC in later years — a small, separate step we can also help with when it falls due
The Full Breakdown of Your ₦35,500
You pay ₦35,500 once. CAC’s fee and our fee are both inside it, and nothing is tacked on afterwards. If you would prefer to start as a company, the Limited Liability Company option is ₦65,500, also all-inclusive.
- A check of CAC’s register to confirm your name is available
- Reservation of the name for your business
- Preparation and submission of the Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Individual POS agents, recharge and phone shops, small installers | Multi-outlet agent networks, larger resellers, and businesses with partners or outside funding |
If you run one kiosk, one shop or one workshop, a Business Name usually covers what you need: a legal name for your receipts, your dealings with a principal and your bank account. A Limited Liability Company starts to make sense when you are running several outlets, sharing ownership, or planning to bring in outside money, since the business then stands as its own legal person apart from you. Many owners begin with a Business Name and convert later.

How We Get You Registered
- We check that your name is available on CAC’s register.
- We reserve the name once it is confirmed.

Your Trade Runs on Float and Network, So Registration Shouldn’t Compete for Both
Anyone who has worked a terminal knows the rhythm: topping up float before the queue builds, waiting out a network outage with customers watching, chasing a failed transaction that has to be resolved on the spot, and surviving salary week when everyone arrives at once. In a phone or recharge shop it is the same story with stock, repairs and customers who need their line working today. None of that leaves much room to learn a government portal. Registration is one job on that list we can take off you completely. When it is finished, your business has a name that holds up on receipts, in conversations with your principal and on your bank forms.
A Good Match If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not shut the kiosk, or leave a customer waiting at the counter, to wrestle with CAC’s portal — salary-week queues and float top-ups don’t wait for paperwork.
- You’re thinking past a single terminal — one kiosk today, maybe a few outlets with sub-agents later, or a phone shop that adds repairs and data services — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a POS or telecom business in Nasarawa State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, in any of the 13 LGAs. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What comes with the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, CAC’s government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a POS kiosk, recharge stall or phone shop? For most individual operators, yes. It gives you the legal name and registration to work from. If you are running several outlets or sharing ownership, a Limited Liability Company may be worth considering from day one.
Does CAC registration make me a licensed POS agent? No. Agents are appointed by the bank, mobile money operator or fintech whose services they offer. CAC registration gives you the registered business identity you bring to that process.
Will my principal ask for CAC documents? Requirements differ between principals, so ask yours what it wants to see. A CAC certificate, TIN and status report are the sort of documents that commonly come up, but registration alone does not appoint you.
Does registration cover telecom services such as selling data or running a network? CAC registration gives you a legal name. Whether your activity needs approval from the Nigerian Communications Commission is a separate question, so check the current NCC requirements for what you plan to offer.
Can I register a POS business and a phone accessories shop under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly, such as “POS services and telecom accessories”. Anything specific to a principal or regulator is handled separately.
What is AMMBAN, and do I need to join? AMMBAN is the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria, and it has a Nasarawa State chapter. Membership is its own decision and is separate from CAC registration.
Do you register businesses outside Karu, Lafia and Keffi? Yes. We cover all 13 LGAs, from Akwanga and Wamba to Obi and Awe, at the same price and turnaround.
I haven’t settled on my shop or kiosk location yet. Can I still register? You need a business address in Nasarawa State, with the LGA, for the application. If you are still looking, send the address you plan to use.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, alongside your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
What if my first-choice name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we’ll check it straight away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I switch from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many operators start with a Business Name and convert when they grow into several outlets or bring in partners. We can assist with the conversion.
