A POS terminal, a rack of phone accessories or a counter selling airtime and data can all bring steady customers, and all of them are easier to run when the business has a registered name behind it. For POS operators in particular, that registration matters more than it used to. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. We handle the name search, the filing and the certificate for you, whichever LGA your outlet is in. Send your business name on WhatsApp, and we’ll turn it into a registered business.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
A single ₦35,500 payment covers all of the following, with CAC’s filing charge and our service fee both inside it. If you’d rather start as a company, a Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500, all-inclusive.
- A check that your first-choice business name is free to use
- Reservation of the name
- Preparation and submission of your CAC Business Name application
- The government filing and processing fee charged by CAC
- Your Certificate of Registration, as a soft copy
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing your business as active on the public register
Outside the Scope of This Registration
CAC registration gives your business a legal name. For a POS or telecom outlet, the following sit outside it:
- Printed copies of your certificate — you receive a soft copy and can print it at any business centre
- Your agent agreement with a bank, fintech or super agent, which is what actually allows you to run a terminal and is governed by the CBN’s agent banking rules
- Terminal, float and settlement arrangements with that provider, including whatever transaction limits and charges apply at the time
- Authorisation from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) if you go beyond reselling and provide telecom services such as internet access or value-added services
- Dealer or reseller arrangements with mobile network operators for airtime and data
- NCC type approval for telecom equipment you import to sell, where it applies
- Shop, kiosk and signage permits and levies set by your local government council
- Your tax filings, including VAT where it applies to your sales
- Employer obligations such as pension and employee-compensation contributions, once your staff numbers reach the level where they apply
- Opening a business bank account, done with your bank after your certificate arrives
- Annual returns in later years — a short, separate filing that we can also handle
Business Name or Company: What a POS or Phone Business Needs
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (all-inclusive) | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Keeps your personal assets separate | No | Yes |
| Documents delivered | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Typically chosen by | Owner-run POS outlets, phone shops, recharge counters and repair workshops | Operators with partners or investors, larger multi-outlet businesses, and firms building fintech services |
For a single outlet run by its owner, a Business Name is usually what is needed: it gives your terminal, your shop and your records a registered name to operate under. A company becomes worth considering when ownership is shared, outside money comes in, or you are building something larger than a handful of outlets. Becoming a super agent or payment provider is a different matter entirely, because it requires licensing from the Central Bank of Nigeria on top of any CAC registration.
Why POS Operators in Taraba Are Registering Now
The rules around POS businesses have tightened considerably. In a public notice dated 6 December 2025, the Corporate Affairs Commission said that from 1 January 2026 no POS operator would be allowed to operate without CAC registration, and that unregistered terminals could be seized or shut down. The notice described unregistered operation as a breach of the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020 and the CBN’s agent banking rules. In June 2026, the CAC’s own figures, reported in the press, put registration at only about 20 per cent of POS operators nationwide, so there is still a great deal of catching up to do.
The CBN’s agent banking guidelines, issued on 6 October 2025, add rules that bear directly on where and how you trade. Agents that are businesses rather than individuals must operate from their registered places of business, agent banking must be kept separate from merchant transactions under agent code 6010, and from 1 April 2026 an agent may work with only one principal. In practice, that makes your registered address important: give us the exact address and LGA in Taraba where your terminal operates. Enforcement can vary, and some operators’ associations have argued that individuals trading in their own names are exempt, so treat this as a summary of what the CAC and CBN have said and not as legal advice. A CAC certificate gives you the registered name that those rules assume you have.
Queues, Network Drops and Float: Paperwork Shouldn’t Join the List
Your counter has its own rhythm: a queue that builds as soon as the market opens, a transfer that hangs when the network drops, a cash float to keep balanced and a customer who needs a refund processed before you can serve the next. Add airtime top-ups, data bundles, screen repairs and a phone that someone left behind, and there is not much time left to work out a government portal. Registration is the one item on that list that can be taken off you in full. When it’s done, your business has a registered name for agent paperwork, supplier invoices and bank forms.

Registering POS and Telecom Businesses Across Taraba’s 16 LGAs
The price and the turnaround are identical in every local government area. We register POS and telecom businesses in all 16: Ardo Kola, Bali, Donga, Gashaka, Gassol, Ibi, Jalingo, Karim Lamido, Kurmi, Lau, Sardauna, Takum, Ussa, Wukari, Yorro and Zing.
Because an operating terminal is tied to a registered business address, tell us the street, town and LGA where you actually trade, and not a mailing address in another place. If you sell from a stall or a shop that sits within a market, give us the name of the market as well. Wherever in Taraba State your outlet stands, it can be registered.
Before You Reach Out
- Two business names, in the order you’d like them
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Taraba State, with the LGA included
- A phone number and an email address
- A short description of the business — for example “POS and agent banking services, airtime and data sales” or “phone accessories, repairs and recharge services”
- For a Limited Liability Company only: names, IDs and details of the directors and shareholders
From Message to Certificate
- We search CAC’s public portal to see if your name is available.
- We reserve the name once it clears.
- We complete and file the application, using your details and your Taraba address.
- You send photos of your ID and passport photograph from your phone.
- You pay ₦35,500 once, which covers every item listed above.
- Your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, generally within 5–7 working days.
After you’ve shared your documents and paid once, the remaining work happens on our side.

Is This Right for Your Business?
A registration agent should suit the way you work. Here’s who tends to be happiest with us:
- You’d rather not be filling in CAC’s portal while a queue builds at your terminal, a transfer is hanging or the network has dropped and you’re restarting the machine — you want the registration finished while the counter keeps serving customers.
- You’re planning to grow from one terminal into a fuller shop with airtime, data, bill payments and phone accessories, or to open a second outlet in another Taraba town — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You value a straight answer over a sales pitch — if a Business Name is enough for where you are, we’ll tell you that, not upsell you into the LLC.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If any of that rings true, you’re likely a good match for how we work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a POS or telecom business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, whichever Taraba LGA you are in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I receive for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC application, the government filing fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Do POS operators in Taraba have to register with CAC? The CAC said in a notice dated 6 December 2025 that, from 1 January 2026, no POS operator would be allowed to operate without CAC registration. We are not lawyers, so confirm your own position if in doubt, but registering is the safe course.
I already have a business name for another trade, such as provisions or tailoring. Does it cover POS? Press coverage of the CAC’s position says agent banking should be registered as a distinct business activity, and many operators run it alongside another trade. Message us with what you already have and we’ll advise you on the right route.
I operate as an individual in my own name. Do I still need to register? Some operators’ associations have argued that individuals using their own names are not required to register, but the CAC’s notice covers all POS operators. Because enforcement and interpretation can change, check the current position before deciding.
Is a Business Name enough for a POS business? For an owner-run outlet, usually yes. A company is worth considering if you have partners, outside investors or plans for a larger operation.
Does CAC registration make me a licensed agent? No. Agent status comes from your agreement with a bank, fintech or super agent under the CBN’s rules. CAC registration gives you the registered business name.
Do I have to keep POS transactions separate from my shop sales? The CBN’s guidelines say agent banking must be kept distinct from merchant transactions and carry agent code 6010. Your provider will tell you how to apply this in practice.
Can I work with more than one provider? The guidelines restrict an agent to a single principal from 1 April 2026. Check the exact terms with your provider.
Can I move my terminal to another market or shop? For businesses, operations are supposed to stay at the registered place of business, and relocation generally needs your principal’s approval. This is why the address and LGA you register matter.
Which address should I register? The address in Taraba State where you actually trade, along with its LGA. Add the market’s name if you operate inside one.
I trade from a kiosk or an umbrella stand with no shop. Can I register? Yes. You need a fixed address in Taraba State where you operate, with its LGA. Describe the spot as precisely as you can, including the market or junction, so it matches where your terminal is used.
Do I need an NCC licence to sell airtime and data? Resellers normally deal through the network operators’ own arrangements. Licensing from the NCC is needed for providing telecom services such as internet access, and it is separate from CAC registration.
Can I register POS, airtime and phone accessories under one name? Yes. Describe the business broadly and include the POS or agent banking activity clearly, for example “POS and agent banking services, airtime and phone accessories”.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a short, separate step, and we can help when it falls due.
What if the name I want is already taken? Send a backup name and we will check it straight away. Keeping two or three options ready speeds things up.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many outlets start with a Business Name and convert as they grow, and we can help with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you plan to share ownership, bring in investors, or build a larger multi-outlet operation, the company route is worth considering from the start.
Will a bank or fintech accept me as an agent if I have the certificate? The certificate is one document they may ask for, but onboarding depends on each provider’s own checks. It does not guarantee acceptance.
Do you register businesses outside Jalingo? Yes. We register POS and telecom businesses in all 16 LGAs of Taraba State, from Sardauna and Gashaka to Wukari and Takum, at the same price and with the same turnaround.
