Whether your animals are birds in a pen, goats in a compound or cattle on the highlands, keeping livestock means feeding, watering and watching over them every single day, and registering the business is rarely the first thing on the list. Onelove Business Ventures is an accredited CAC agent. If you raise, breed or trade animals anywhere in Taraba State, we handle the name search, the filing and the certificate, so your time stays with the herd or the flock. One WhatsApp message with your business name is all it takes — we manage the rest.
Taraba’s Livestock Sector Is Getting Organised, and Organised Sectors Deal in Names
Taraba is one of the states where livestock policy has become visible. In April 2026, the Minister of Livestock Development visited Governor Agbu Kefas in Jalingo with a delegation from the dairy company Pure Dairy Herd to discuss a livestock training academy, explaining that the Mambilla Plateau was chosen for its large cattle population and fertile land. The state also has a Taraba State Livestock Development Commission, known as TALDEC, and in September 2026 the state government and the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project, or L-PRES, launched a statewide mass artificial insemination programme to improve cattle genetics. L-PRES covers cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and poultry, and its Taraba coordinator has said that at least 40,000 people in the state were expected to benefit, among them producers, feed suppliers, equipment dealers, marketers, transporters, processors and input suppliers. We cannot say what any programme or buyer will ask of its participants, and registration does not promise inclusion. What it does is give your livestock business a legal name, which is the form most organised dealings begin with.

Business Name vs. Limited Liability Company
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Owner-run poultry, goat, pig and cattle businesses and small traders | Larger commercial farms, dairy or processing ventures, partners and investors |
A Business Name suits an owner who runs the animals and needs a legal name for sales, feed invoices and a bank account. A Limited Liability Company becomes more attractive once several people own the venture, once you invest in a hatchery, a dairy unit or a processing line, or when large buyers and financiers prefer to deal with a company. Many livestock keepers start with a Business Name and upgrade as the herd or flock grows.

- A valid means of ID — National ID (NIN), international passport, or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Taraba State — with its LGA

- Reserve the name as soon as it clears.

That’s the full extent of it on your part: send the details, make one payment, receive your certificate.
Outside the Scope of This Registration
Keeping animals involves animal-health and food-safety rules that sit alongside CAC registration, not inside it:
- Registration and approvals under veterinary rules, such as those of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria, if you practise veterinary services or sell veterinary drugs
- Animal-health requirements from the state’s veterinary services, including vaccination, disease reporting and movement certificates for livestock
- Any registration or requirements set by the Taraba State Livestock Development Commission or other livestock authorities, which can change, so confirm them directly
- Approvals for abattoirs, slaughter slabs and meat handling, including meat inspection
- NAFDAC registration for processed or packaged animal products, such as packaged milk, eggs or meat, sold under a brand
- Permissions for the land or grazing area your animals use, which are separate from business registration
- Environmental and waste requirements for larger poultry, pig or cattle operations
- State and federal tax obligations that apply to your sales and any workers you employ
- Physical/printed copies of your certificate (delivered as soft copy; print locally whenever convenient)
- Business bank account opening, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is in hand
- Annual returns filing in future years — a small, separate step we can also help with when the time comes

Animals Don’t Take a Day Off
The routine of a livestock business is set by the animals. Birds need feed and water before the day heats up, eggs have to be collected and cleaned, and goats and cattle need to be moved, watered and checked. Vaccination dates come around whether or not it is a good week, pens have to be cleaned, and the sale of a batch of birds or a few animals at the market takes another day altogether. Putting a business name on the CAC register is one task that can leave your list completely. When it’s done, your farm or livestock business has a recognised name for feed invoices, sales records and bank paperwork.
This Might Be a Great Fit If…
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- Your days begin with feeding, watering and egg collection and end with pen cleaning and market calls — a trip to sort out CAC’s portal would mean leaving the animals unattended, and you want the registration done while the work continues.
- You’re thinking beyond a handful of animals — toward supplying hotels, butchers and feed dealers on a regular basis, adding a hatchery or dairy unit, or taking part in livestock programmes that deal with organised producers — and you want a registered name to grow under.
- You want a recommendation that fits your size — not the biggest package by default.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If that’s the kind of service you want, message us and we’ll begin.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a poultry or livestock business in Taraba State? ₦35,500 all-inclusive for a Business Name, the same wherever in Taraba State your animals are kept. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500, and how long does it take? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, the government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report. It usually takes 5–7 working days, and everything is sent to you on WhatsApp.
Is a Business Name enough for a small poultry, goat or cattle business? For most owner-run livestock businesses and small traders, yes. It gives you a registered name to trade under, and if it covers your stage, that’s what we’ll recommend.
Does CAC registration cover veterinary or animal-health approvals? No. CAC gives your business its legal name. Veterinary practice, animal-health rules and similar approvals are handled separately by the relevant bodies.
Do I need NAFDAC for eggs, milk or meat? For processed or packaged animal products sold under a brand, NAFDAC registration is a separate requirement. Selling live animals at the market is a different matter, so check the current rules for your product.
Can I register poultry, cattle and feed sales under one name? Yes. Describe the nature of business broadly, such as livestock farming and feed sales. Each activity may have its own approvals.
I want to sell milk or run a dairy. Does anything change? The CAC registration is the same. Selling processed or packaged milk brings extra requirements such as NAFDAC, which are separate.
Can I register a pig farm? Yes. A pig farm can be registered like any other livestock business. Local, environmental and animal-health approvals are handled separately.
Can livestock traders and market dealers register? Yes. Describe the nature of business as livestock trading. Any market, levy or movement requirements are separate from CAC registration.
Can I register a hatchery or egg business? Yes. Describe the nature of business as hatchery, chick sales or egg production. Animal-health and food-safety rules may apply separately.
Can a bee-keeping or honey business register too? Yes. Describe the nature of business as bee-keeping and honey production. If you package and sell honey under a brand, check whether NAFDAC registration applies to your product.
Can I register an abattoir, slaughter slab or butchery? Yes, the business can be registered. Abattoir, slaughter-slab and meat-inspection approvals are separate and handled with the relevant authorities.
Do I need to own or lease land before registering? Not for the CAC registration itself. You need a business address in Taraba State and its LGA. Land or grazing permissions are a separate matter.
Which address should I use if my animals are far from town? Send the address you want on the certificate, together with the LGA it falls under. Many livestock keepers use a town or home address for the business.
Will registration help me join livestock programmes? Programmes and buyers sometimes ask for proof of registration, so the certificate is a useful document to have. It does not guarantee a place, and each programme sets its own conditions.
Will hotels, supermarkets and large buyers ask for my registration? Some do. Larger buyers often prefer suppliers they can identify on paper, but requirements differ from one buyer to another.
Do you register livestock businesses outside Jalingo? Yes. We register businesses across all of Taraba State, from Sardauna and Gashaka to Wukari and Ibi, at the same price and turnaround.
Can family members or partners register a farm together? A Business Name can be held by one or several owners, and each person’s ID and details are needed. With several owners or investors, a Limited Liability Company may fit better, and we’ll tell you honestly which suits you.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. A CAC certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, together with your ID and other details.
Is the TIN included? Yes. A Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
Do I need to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses have annual returns to file. It is a small, separate step, and we can help with it when the time comes.
What if my proposed business name isn’t available? Send a backup name and we will check it right away. Having two or three options ready keeps things moving.
Can I upgrade from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes. Many livestock businesses start with a Business Name and convert when the herd, flock, processing or investors grow. We can assist with the conversion.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you are planning a commercial farm, a dairy or processing unit, sharing ownership, or expect a buyer or investor to insist on a company, the company route is worth considering from day one.
Your animals already keep you busy; the registration only needs one message. Send your business name on WhatsApp →
