A welding workshop, a fabrication yard and an iron-scrap collection point have one thing in common: customers, contractors and banks often ask to see a registered name behind the business. Onelove Business Ventures, an accredited CAC agent, registers welders, metal workers and iron-scrap dealers across Zamfara State. A Business Name costs ₦35,500 all-inclusive and a Limited Liability Company costs ₦65,500 all-inclusive, with the CAC filing fee and our service fee both built into those figures. All we need to begin is your business name, sent to us on WhatsApp; the filing and follow-up are our job.

Here’s Exactly What You’re Paying For
The ₦35,500 is one payment for a Zamfara welding or metal business, and it covers each of the following:
- Checking whether your chosen business name is available
- Reserving the name once it is cleared
- Completing and submitting your CAC Business Name application
- CAC’s government filing and processing fee
- Your Certificate of Registration (soft copy)
- Your Tax Identification Number (TIN)
- A CAC Status Report showing that your business is active on the public register
If you would rather register as a company, the same ground is covered at ₦65,500 all-inclusive, with a Memart added to the documents you receive.
Outside the Scope of This Registration
CAC registration gives your workshop or yard a legal name. The approvals below belong to other bodies and are arranged separately:
- Printed copies of your certificate. You receive a soft copy and print it locally.
- Any permit your local government requires for a workshop, forge or scrap yard. Ask your LGA secretariat what applies to your premises.
- Fire-safety checks for a workshop that stores oxygen and acetylene cylinders or runs heavy electrical equipment.
- Environmental requirements for scrap yards and metal waste, including those of the state environmental agency and, where relevant, NESREA.
- Registration under the Factories Act, if your workshop is large enough to count as a factory. Confirm with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment.
- Customs and standards requirements, including SON rules where they apply, if you import steel sections, electrodes or welding machines.
- Any state or local rule on scrap-metal dealing. We did not find a Zamfara-specific one, but you should confirm the current position with your LGA office and the police before opening a yard.
- Tax obligations that apply to your trade, whether at state or federal level.
- Opening a business bank account, done with your chosen bank once your certificate is ready.
- Annual returns in later years. This is a small, separate step that we can also handle for you.
Business Name or Limited Liability Company?
| Business Name | Limited Liability Company | |
|---|---|---|
| All-inclusive cost | ₦35,500 | ₦65,500 |
| Personal liability protection | No | Yes |
| Documents received | Certificate + Status Report + TIN | Certificate + Status Report + Memart + TIN |
| Best for | Single-owner workshops, mobile welders and small scrap collectors | Larger fabrication yards, bulk scrap buyers and firms with co-owners |
For a one-person or family workshop, a Business Name usually does the job: it lets you invoice, bank and bid under a proper name. A company makes sense when the business is large enough that you want it kept apart from your personal assets, when co-owners or investors are involved, or when the buyers you are chasing expect a company on the paperwork. If you start with a Business Name, that route stays open for later.
Before You Reach Out
Have these ready, and the application can move without delays:
- Two business names you would like, ranked by preference
- A valid ID — National ID (NIN), international passport or driver’s license
- A passport photograph
- Your business address in Zamfara State, with the LGA it falls under
- A phone number and an email address
- A short description of what the business does, for example “welding and metal fabrication” or “iron scrap collection and trading”
- If you choose a Limited Liability Company: the names, ID and details of each director and shareholder
From Message to Certificate
- Name check — we search CAC’s public portal to see whether your name is available.
- Reservation — once it is clear, we reserve it.
- Application — we complete the form with your business, owner and Zamfara address details.
- Documents — you send your ID and passport photograph; a phone photo is fine.
- Payment — you make the single ₦35,500 payment.
- Delivery — your Certificate of Registration, TIN and Status Report arrive, usually within 5–7 working days.
On your side that comes to a message, a payment and a wait for the certificate.
Gusau’s Iron-Working Past and Zamfara’s Mining Reopening
Iron work is not a new trade in Zamfara. A published academic study of the smithing industry in Hausaland, which looks closely at Gusau, argues that blacksmiths played a central part in the city’s growth through the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and it records the Hausa terms maƙeran baƙi (blacksmiths) and maƙeran fari (whitesmiths). Today’s welders, fabricators and forge workers are part of that same line of trade, now with arc welders and angle grinders beside the anvil.
More recently, in December 2024, the federal government lifted its ban on mining exploration in Zamfara. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, described the state as rich in gold, lithium and copper belts, and said that lifting the ban would allow mining activity to be better regulated. Whether renewed activity brings fabrication, repair or equipment work to local workshops will differ from place to place, and registration does not promise any of it. What it does is let you quote, invoice and open a bank account under a recognised name when a buyer asks for one. Check the current mining and security position in your area before planning around it.
On scrap, we did not find a Zamfara-specific rule on scrap-metal dealing. Some other northern states have restricted the trade for security reasons, so confirm the current expectations with your LGA office and the police before you set up or expand a yard.

- Birnin Magaji/Kiyaw — roadside welders and small workshops
- Bukkuyum — blacksmiths and welders serving the local farming trade
- Bungudu — gate makers, repairers and scrap buyers
- Chafe — small forges and metal workers
- Gummi — welders and agricultural-tool makers
- Gusau — the state capital, with workshops, fabrication yards and scrap buyers serving its markets and traffic
- Kaura Namoda — trading-town workshops and metal-goods sellers

If your business is anywhere in Zamfara State, it can be registered.
You Know the Metal; Leave the Paperwork to Us
A weld that holds, a gate that hangs true, a load of scrap sorted and weighed fairly: your name is built on work like that. Your days run on cutting discs, electrodes, generator fuel and customers who want the job done before the weekend. Getting a registered name onto all of that is a task that does not need your hands on a grinder. Once it is done, your workshop or yard has a name you can put on quotations, receipts and bank forms, and a certificate to show a buyer who asks for one.
Is This Right for Your Business?
We’re not the right fit for everyone, and we’d rather say so — here’s who usually benefits most from working with us:
- You’d rather not work out CAC’s portal while a gate waits for its last coat, a customer stands at the workshop for a quote, or a load of scrap is sitting at the weighing point — you want the registration done while the work carries on.
- You’re aiming to move from walk-in repairs and gate jobs to supplying builders, farm-equipment buyers or bulk scrap to larger buyers who prefer a registered name.
- You prefer being told what you actually need — if the Business Name does the job today, we’ll leave the company route for when it’s worth it.
- You want a process without back-and-forth — send your details once, pay once, and there are no surprise charges afterwards.
If this describes you, we’d be glad to take the paperwork off your hands.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does CAC registration cost for a welding workshop in Zamfara State? A Business Name is ₦35,500 all-inclusive, whichever LGA you are in. A Limited Liability Company is ₦65,500 all-inclusive.
What do I get for the ₦35,500? The name search and reservation, the completed CAC filing, CAC’s government fee, your Certificate of Registration (soft copy), a TIN and a CAC Status Report.
Is a Business Name enough for a welder or fabricator? For most owner-run workshops, yes. It gives you a legal name for invoices, bidding and banking. A company becomes worth considering when co-owners, investors or larger buyers come into the picture.
Can iron-scrap collectors and scrap yards register too? Yes. A scrap-collection or scrap-trading business can be registered in the same way as a workshop, and you can describe it in the nature-of-business line.
Does CAC registration also license me to deal in scrap or run a workshop? No. Registration gives the business its legal name and identity. Any local permits, safety checks or environmental approvals for your premises are separate.
Is there a Zamfara rule on scrap-metal dealing I should know about? We did not find a Zamfara-specific one. Because some northern states have restricted the trade, confirm the current position with your LGA office and the police.
I’m a mobile welder with no fixed shop. Can I still register? You will need an address in Zamfara State and its LGA for the application. Use your home or the place where you keep your equipment.
Which LGAs do you cover? All 14 on the list above, from Anka to Zurmi.
Does the price change depending on the LGA? No. The price, requirements and turnaround are the same across Zamfara State.
How long does it take? Usually 5–7 working days once your details and payment are in.
How will I receive my certificate? As a soft copy on WhatsApp. You print it locally whenever you need a hard copy.
Is the TIN included? Yes. The Tax Identification Number is part of what you receive for the ₦35,500.
What is the CAC Status Report? It is a document confirming that your business is active on CAC’s public register, which is useful when a buyer or bank asks for proof.
What if my first-choice name is taken? Send another and we will check it straight away. Having a backup ready saves time.
How many names should I send? Two, ranked by preference, so that if the first is unavailable we can move to the second.
Can one registration cover both welding and scrap trading? Yes, if you describe the business broadly. A scrap yard’s local permits may still need to be arranged separately.
Do I need to travel to register? From your side, your details and documents reach us over WhatsApp, so you do not need to visit a CAC office.
Do I need other approvals for a workshop with gas cylinders? Possibly. Fire-safety and premises requirements sit outside CAC registration, so check them with the relevant authorities.
Will a CAC certificate help me deal with contractors or larger buyers? Contractors, organisations and bulk buyers often ask for proof of registration before placing orders, so the certificate is useful to have. It does not guarantee any job or contract.
Can I open a business bank account with the certificate? Yes. The certificate is one of the main documents banks ask for, along with your ID and other details.
Do I have to file anything with CAC in later years? Registered businesses file annual returns. It is a small, separate step that we can help with when it falls due.
Can I move from a Business Name to a Limited Liability Company later? Yes, and we can assist with the conversion when you are ready.
When does it make sense to start with a Limited Liability Company? If you have co-owners, expect to take on larger supply or fabrication contracts, or want the business kept apart from your personal assets, the company route is worth looking at from the start.
Does a Business Name protect my personal assets? No. A Business Name does not separate you from the business. A Limited Liability Company does.
Will there be extra charges after I pay? No. The ₦35,500 covers the filing and our fee together, and nothing is added later.
Can I register more than one workshop or yard under one name? One registration covers the business as a whole. Local permits and approvals usually attach to each set of premises, so confirm them for every site you run.
